The debate among Indian cricket fans regarding who is the greatest batsman of all times, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli, is going on for some time now. While many fans believe that Kohli is destined to be one of the best of all times, many believe he is already there. And it seems former Australian skipper Michael Clarke is on the same page.

Clarke, an unabashed Kohli fan, on Sunday told news agency Press Trust of India that Indian captain Virat Kohli is already the “greatest ODI batsman to have ever played the game”.

Kohli, who is ranked number one on the ICC Test as well as ODI rankings, scripted history by guiding Team India to their first ever Test series and bilateral ODI series win against Australia in Australia.

“To me, Virat Kohli is the greatest batsman to have ever played one-day cricket. I have no doubts after seeing what he has achieved for India,” Clarke, Australia’s former World Cup-winning captain said.

The stylish 30-year-old has already scored 10,385 runs in 219 ODIs with a stunning average of 59 plus. Kohli has also scored 39 hundred in the limited overs game. Kohli is now just 10 centuries short of equalling Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries.

“You have to respect Virat’s passion to win games for his country. Yes, he has aggression but no one can question his commitment, how much he has achieved. He is the greatest in ODIs,” Clarke added.
