Messi has won most Man of the Match awards in last 9 seasons – 100 more than Ronaldo; checkout top 10 players

Argentine star Lionel Messi has bagged a scarcely believable 225 Man of the Match Awards since the beginning of the 2010-11 season. This is 100 more trophies than another legend of the sport, Cristiano Ronaldo.

As per statistics published in Sport Bible, Barcelona forward Messi has been adjudged the player of the match on a whopping 225 occasions in the previous nine seasons.

In the same span of time, Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo won the award 125 times.

It is worth noting here that Messi and Ronaldo are the only ones to have won the award more than 100 times in the previous nine seasons.

The number three on the list is former Chelsea and present Real Madrid player Eden Hazard. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar and Luis Suarez complete the list of top five players who have won the most man of the match awards in the last nine seasons.

Names such as Antoine Griezmann and Marco Reus also feature in the top 10 but interestingly, midfielder Arturo Vidal makes it to the top 10.
