In the 33rd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Tuesday at Edgbaston, New Zealand are taking on Pakistan. New Zealand’s opening batsman Martin Guptill has been a match-winner for the Kiwis in the past few years.
However, as per reports, New Zealand’s stylish batsman only has two fingers on his left foot. It is to be noted that when Guptill was 13, he was a victim of an accident involving a forklift machine. Consequently, he lost three fingers of his left foot.

It is worth noting that Guptill has been nicknamed “two toes” by his friends post this accident. The right-handed batsman has featured in Tests, ODIs and T20Is for the Kiwis.
As far as New Zealand’s World Cup campaign is concerned, Martin Guptill is very essential to the team. He is one of the most lethal batsmen in the side and seeing his performances so far, it is expected that his best is yet to come in the tournament.
Guptill is the first New Zealand cricketer to score a double hundred in One Day Internationals. He, in fact, remained unbeaten even after scoring 237 runs. The right-handed batsman became the fifth player in the World to achieve the double hundred mark.
The 32-year-old was born in New Zealand’s Auckland.
The Kiwis are ranked No. 3 in the World
It is to be noted that in ICC ODI Rankings, New Zealand are placed third, while Pakistan are ranked sixth. However, looking at their present run of play this World Cup clash is expected to be a thriller.
New Zealand and Pakistan have played as many as eight World Cup games. New Zealand have managed only two wins in these matches and Pakistan have won the remaining six.
On Wednesday, Pakistan will look to maintain their impressive record against the Kiwis while the Black Caps would be looking to maintain their unbeaten run in this World Cup and secure a semifinal birth.
