A brace by Romelu Lukaku helped Manchester United defeat Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium and progress to the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup on Saturday.
Lukaku, who in the process bagged his 20th and 21st goals of the season, said that he has to keep going and help Manchester United win trophies. “I have been doing it for years now, I have to keep going and, at the end of the day, I am at Manchester United and the main goal is to win trophies,” he said, adding, “It was satisfying for the team. I think we had a difficult game in the league (against Huddersfield) recently so everybody was up for it from the start,” said Lukaku, according to www.manutd.com.
Meanwhile, Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho said that though it was a difficult tie, his team started off really well. In his chat with MUTV, Mourinho said, “We knew that it would be difficult. It was hard but we started really well. With that second goal in the second half, I think we killed the game and, from that moment, we were in control. Good counter-attacks, twice attacking the space well. Twice cold in front of the keeper, good decisions, good shots, good goals, important goals from us.”

“I’m happy we are in the quarter-final. I’m happy we won the match, especially after the defeat. It was the kind of game where a draw wouldn’t be a drama. To take the match to Old Trafford wouldn’t be a drama for us,” said the coach.
Giving credit to Huddersfield, he said, “The game was difficult – they had a different approach to what they had in the Premier League obviously. Huddersfield head coach David Wagner knows he doesn’t need a point to stay in the Premier League. He knows he can have a go and they did that. The majority of time in the first half they were offensive and dangerous. They pushed us to do good defensive work – Victor (Lindelof) and Chris (Smalling) were, I think, really, really good in a difficult match. In the second half, we were in control. We scored a goal when we were already in control and then controlled the rest of the second half, which was good.”
Under the guidance of interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, United finally achieved a breakthrough in the competition, following three consecutive draws under former manager Erik ten Hag.
Reflecting on the resounding win over City, Amorim admitted that this performance was "a dream way" to sign off. Yet, he emphasised that his approach at United would differ significantly.
