Man Utd’s Manuel Ugarte in doubt to face Brentford after suffering knock vs Ecuador
The nature of his injury remains unclear, but it raises concerns over his availability for Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford.
However, the 21-year-old is expected to feature in United’s next game.
Scott McTominay’s debut for Scotland wasn’t exactly the stuff of dreams, with the Scots getting beaten by Costa Rica 1-0 and the young midfielder being forced off with an injury mid-way into the second-half.
The 21-year-old has come to prominence at Manchester United this season, notably for pushing club-record signing Paul Pobga out of the starting XI and was eligible to play for both England and Scotland both but eventually chose the latter and was promptly given his first-ever senior call earlier in March.
Alex McLeish named the tall midfielder in his starting XI to play against the South Americans at Hampden Park but McTominay’s performance didn’t live up to the hype as he and the rest of his countrymen put in a largely sub-par showing.

McTominay’s outing ended in the 58th minute as he was replaced by Stuart Armstrong, with McLeish revealing in his post-match presser that the Red Devils midfielder had suffered an injury.
The United man promptly withdrew from the national squad and Scotland will now have to make do without him when they face Hungary on Monday night.
Considering the Red Devils are facing a stiff fight to finish in the top-four of the Premier League, it would appear McTominay is prioritising club over country but McLeish has insisted the midfielder has actually injured himself.
The extent of the injury has not been revealed, but a lengthy lay-off is unlikely and the 6’4 Scot should be in contention to face Swansea City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s men are currently second in the table, just two points ahead of Liverpool, however, they have a game in hand over their rivals.
The Red Devils are also still in contention for silverware in the FA Cup and will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the semifinals and Mourinho will want every member of his squad fighting fit as they look to end the season on a high.
