Barcelona great Luis Suarez is gradually nearing his end as the forward is not putting up performances as expected from him. Consequently, the La Liga giants have already started looking at his potential long term replacements.

The Uruguayan had joined Barcelona from Liverpool in a deal estimated at around €80 million in 2014 and has been in phenomenal goal scoring for them since then. In 27 matches for the Barcelona side, he has netted as many as 184 goals and assisted 97 another, amazing numbers by any parameter.

However, with age catching up on him and a slight dip in his performance, Barca have identified some players who can potentially replace him. Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Red Bull Salzburg’s teenage UCL sensation Erling Braut Haaland have made the Barcelona shortlist.

A different set of reports have stated that Lionel Messi has in fact given the green light for Liverpool’s Firmino but Luis Suarez has selected none of these names as his potential replacement. A recent report from Don Balon, a Spanish media outlet, claims that Suarez has picked a centre forward whom he would like to take his spot in the squad and it is none other than Barcelona’s youth forward Abel Ruiz.

It remains to be seen if the 19-year-old is able to fill the big shoes of a Barcelona veteran like Suarez.
