Ahead of the crunch Premier League match against Manchester United, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that winning against their arch-rivals at their backyard would be the “next big step” for Reds.

Klopp has, in fact, asked his players to show their “biggest balls” for Liverpool in order to beat Manchester United in the crunch game on Sunday.

However, here is the statistic which makes it interesting. Liverpool under their German strategist Jurgen Klopp have not won a game at Old Trafford in as many as four visits.

Even in the last season in which they played an exciting brand of football, Klopp’s men only managed a draw against the Red Devils. The result in favour of Liverpool could have won them the season as Manchester City eventually became champions by finishing one point ahead of the Reds.

“Winning there would be a big next step,” Klopp was quoted as saying by Fox Sports Asia.

“It’s not a step we have to make otherwise we cannot develop, no.

“But, of course, for our own history with me it is obviously something we have not achieved yet.

“This team wrote their own story and made their own history and this would be another step. But we cannot make it by simply talking about it.

“We have to go there and play the best football we can play, with the biggest balls, being ready for each challenge, fighting for every ball, all that stuff.

“That is what we have to do. If we can play our game, we are really an uncomfortable opponent,” he concluded.

On the other hand, Manchester United would aim to bring their campaign back on track with a win against Liverpool.
