Liverpool defeated Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday and consequently have put themselves nine points ahead of the Premier League champions. However, one former Liverpool star is of the opinion that it would be foolish to count Manchester City out of the competition yet.
It is Don Hutchison who has insisted that Liverpool’s Club World Cup ambitions can help Manchester City make their way back into the league and give Liverpool a run for their money.
“They can claw this back,” Hutchison said to Premier League Productions.
“Man City can beat Liverpool at the Etihad and take the number back to six.
“When Liverpool go away to the Club World Cup, they play Leicester, Man City.
“If Man City beat Leicester, potentially, the numbers are coming down.
“There’s 78 points to play for. This is not Liverpool’s yet, no chance.”
Although Liverpool are nine points ahead of Manchester City at the moment, the Cityzens are not the only team giving them a fight this season. Leicester City and Chelsea are both just eight points behind the Reds and with exciting fixtures to come ahead, the race to the title may be far more interesting and fascinating than one initially thought it would be.
