Colombian striker Radamel Falcao continued his hot streak as defending champions Monaco rebounded from a humiliating loss to Nice last weekend to beat newly promoted French football club Strasbourg 3-0 in Ligue 1.

Falcao finished a brace to bring his tally to nine goals after six matches this season, maintaining his leading position on league scorers, reports Xinhua news agency.

Falcao also had an assist in the lopsided victory on Saturday as he steered Rony Lopes’ first goal for the club late in the first half.

Falcao proved himself an efficient striker in the second, where he scored two goals, in the 51st and 67th minute respectively.

Monaco provisionally went level with leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on points with one more game played. PSG, who bagged all 15 points after five matches, will host Lyon on Sunday night.

Etienne Didot became the hero for Guingamp with his stoppage time goal in a 1-0 victory over Lille, who saw five rounds without a win under Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Saint-Etienne moved up to the third place after beating Dijon 1-0. Nantes laboured through Caen 1-0. Troyes lost to Montpellier 0-1.
