Rumours have been doing the rounds, ever since Unai Emery was sacked as Arsenal manager, that the Gunners are looking at Brendan Rodgers to succeed the Spaniard.

Rodgers, employed with Leicester City, is having a terrific season and there seems no probability whatsoever of him leaving them. Under him, the Foxes are currently placed second in the ongoing season of Premier League.

The former Liverpool man is on a high and that could be the reason which persuaded Arsenal to come for him. Leicester City, being aware of the developments, have kept themselves perfectly prepared if there arises any official action.

According to a report in English daily The Telegraph, the 2015-16 Premier League winners will claim a mammoth transfer fee of £14million from Arsenal.

The three-year contract that binds Rodgers with Leicester has an exit clause of £14m and if the London-based club think of acquiring his service they will have to let that amount go.

Arsenal removed Emery as their manager after 18 months at the helm,  following a poor run of play in the ongoing season. For the time being, Freddie Ljungberg, their first-team assistant coach, has taken over as the interim boss.

“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required,” the official statement released by Arsenal read.

“The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete,” the statement added.

Notably, Emery had taken the managerial assignment with Arsenal prior to the start of the 2018-19 season replacing the legendary manager Arsene Wenger, who decided to step down after serving the manager of the club for twenty-two years.

In his first season in charge, Emergy led the Gunners to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League and the final of the UEFA Europa League, where they lost to Chelsea.
