India look to overcome K L Rahul’s injury scare ahead of BGT
Star batter K L Rahul was forced to retire hurt after being hit by a rising delivery from Prasidh Krishna during the team’s intra-squad match simulation at the WACA in Perth on Friday.
From 27 T20I matches played so far, Rahul has amassed 879 runs at an average of 43.95. Rahul’s strike rate is 149.23.
India opener KL Rahul will have a golden opportunity to become the fastest batsman to 1,000 T20I runs when India face West Indies in the first match of the three-match T20I series in Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday.
Considered as one of the finest batsmen in the shortest format of the game, Rahul is 121 runs short of becoming the seventh Indian to complete 1,000 runs in T20 internationals.
In case Rahul manages to score 121 in Saturday’s clash, he will achieve this feat in 25 innings and will break Pakistan’s Babar Azam’s record of 26 innings — the fastest to 1,000 T20I runs at present.

India skipper Virat Kohli — the 2nd fastest — had achieved the feat in 27 innings.
However, touching the three-digit mark in T20 cricket is quite difficult but the Indian opener has shown in the past that he can go past the three-figure mark in the shortest format of the game as he has scored two tons in T20Is, besides hitting a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, it is to be noted that Rahul had also slammed a ton against the West Indies at the same venue.
From 27 T20I matches played so far, Rahul has amassed 879 runs at an average of 43.95. Rahul’s strike rate is 149.23.
