After scoring a total of five goals in their last five matches, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that it is indeed time for them to become more clinical and score more goals.
He added that although Manchester United are “in good shape”, they are still lacking that killer instinct post a lean run in front of the goals for the Red Devils.
Manchester United will be playing against West Ham on Sunday in an away match and would look to register their third consecutive win including all competitions.
Notably, United had won their Europa League encounter after Mason Greenwood netted home the match settling goal. Prior to that, United have even managed to edge past Leicester City.
After their opening match of the Premier League in which they defeated Chelsea 4-0, the Red Devils have failed to score more than one goal in their next five matches. Marcus Rashford had scored in that Chelsea win but has since then added only a solitary goal to his tally.
“Winning gives confidence and clean sheets give the defenders confidence and we just need to be more clinical in front of goal,” Solskjaer was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
“We’re in good shape and we’ve prepared well for this game.
“We had one eye on Astana but the other eye was on West Ham so we should be ready for it.”
On the other hand, West Ham had to remain content with a goalless draw at Aston Villa.
“I think they’re looking strong,” Solskjaer said of his scheduled opponent on Sunday.
“Of course they have some quality players and their centre-forward [Sebastian] Haller has come good for them.
“It’s good to see [Andriy] Yarmolenko and [Manuel] Lanzini back fit because I know all about knee injuries.
“We played them [at Old Trafford] towards the end of last season and we were lucky to beat them, so we know it’s going to be a tough game,” he concluded.
