La Liga giants Real Madrid finally find themselves at the top of the points table in the domestic league. However, their performance in the UEFA Champions League has not been impressive at all and this has only added more fuel to all sorts of rumours and speculations regarding Zinedine Zidane’s job. Certain sections of the media have already reported that Tottenham Hotspur’s manager Mauricio Pochettino is being considered for a role at the helm of affairs at Madrid but former Los Blancos manager Jose Mourinho may still have an outside chance to take up the role if at all Zidane is shown the door.
According to a report carried by Don Balon, a Spanish media outlet, Jose Mourinho has already informed the club management that if at all he is back as the manager he would not like to continue with their star Karim Benzema. The report adds that Mourinho thinks that Benzema is not exactly suited to his style of play and has instead named these five players who could be drafted in instead if at all he is back as the manager.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, Paris Saint-Germain player Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi and Red Bull Salzburg’s teenage star Erling Braut Haaland are five such players, who he thinks could replace Karim Benzema if he is appointed as their team manager.
However, with their form improving with every passing match, it is very unlikely that such a call would be taken.
