West Indies pace bowler Shamar Joseph has been recruited by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to replace the injured English fast bowler Mark Wood.
Joseph’s acquisition by LSG comes with a price tag of INR 3 crore. Notably, the speedster played a significant role in the West Indies’ recent Test victory at the Gabba, where he claimed seven wickets in the second innings, contributing to a historic triumph for the West Indies in Australia.

This marks Joseph’s debut stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Joseph earned his maiden West Indies cap during the drawn series against Australia, where he made an impactful debut by dismissing Steven Smith with his very first ball in Test cricket.
Despite the West Indies facing defeat in Adelaide, Joseph’s extraordinary performance in the second Test at the Gabba captured global attention.Although he was nursing an injured foot, he still delivered a remarkable seven-wicket haul in the final innings, playing a pivotal role in the West Indies’ thrilling eight-run victory.
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will feel the absence of the English fast bowler, particularly considering his impressive display in the IPL 2023. In that season, he claimed 11 wickets in four matches, notably achieving figures of 5 for 14 against the Delhi Capitals.
LSG will be aiming for a similar level of performance from the West Indies players as they experienced with Wood in the previous IPL edition.
