Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arun Dhumal, confirmed on Tuesday that the tournament will commence on March 22.
Dhumal stated, “We are aiming for a March 22 start for the tournament. We are closely coordinating with government agencies and will first release the initial schedule for the entire tournament to be held in India.”

Additional details suggest that the Lok Sabha 2024 elections are expected to be held in April and May. This is why the IPL’s governing body has not yet announced the tournament’s complete schedule.
Dhumal further mentioned, “Only the schedule for the first 15 days will be released, and the remaining games will be scheduled after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.”
Speaking about specific matchups, the Chennai Super Kings will face off against last year’s runner-up, the Gujarat Giants.
