The upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) can be advanced by a couple of weeks to give Team India’s key pacers adequate rest before the start of ICC World Cup 2019.
As per a report published in ESPNcricinfo, the 11th season of IPL may start on March 23. It is learnt that Indian skipper Virat Kohli along with head coach Ravi Shastri during a meeting with the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) and the Indian cricket board’s senior management team requested for at least two weeks’ rest for pace bowlers.

Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli have also asked if key players, including senior fast bowlers, could be rested from the cash-rich league.
The meeting was also attended by ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma and Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and selection committee chairman MSK Prasad.
IPL chief operating officer Hemang Amin has also told CoA that BCCI’s request would also need the consent of the teams and it is unlikely they will support resting their star pacers. That’s why BCCI can considering an early start.
