2036 Olympics and Paralympics: India formally submits Letter of Intent to IOC
There has been no official confirmation yet but according to reliable sources, the letter was submitted on October 1 with Ahmedabad as the likely host city.
Former team India’s chief selector and skipper Dilip Vengsarkar has been expressed ‘surprise’ over the exclusion of Ajinkya Rahane from India’s One Day International (ODI) squad for England.
Speaking to Sportstar, Dilip Vengsarkar said that Ajinkya Rahane was the perfect man to bat in the middle-order.
“I am really surprised [at Rahane’s exclusion]. It is a 50-over game and somebody has to stay around for a long time. Rahane was the right person to hold the middle-order. It is unfortunate,” Dilip Vengsarkar was quoted saying to Sportstar.

Earlier, it has come as a shock to cricket fraternities when Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from the limited overs format for the United Kingdom tour. Delhi Daredevils skipper Shreyas Iyer has retained his spot in the team and Ambati Rayudu was roped in too, before the latter was replaced by all-rounder Suresh Raina after failing the much-hyped yo-yo test.
On yo-yo test controversy Dilip Vengsarkar said, “Every cricketer needs to be fit at the international level. But I believe they all must get another opportunity to clear the test, in another 10 days or so. I am sure they will do something. This way, the cricketers can always get a chance to be a part of the team.”
