Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman feels that the country needs to show solidarity with the victims of Pulwama terror attack, stating that “cricket is the last thing on anyone’s mind” at the moment.
“I think cricket is the last thing on my mind at the moment. The country is devastated and angry following the cowardly attack on the soldiers. Cricket is the last thing on anyone’s mind,” Laxman was quoted as saying at the WION Global Summit in Dubai.

“We need to rally behind the security forces and the families of those martyred, and stand together against terrorists as well as terrorism,” Laxman added.
In the aftermath of the terror attack, cricket fans and a few veteran cricketers have urged BCCI to boycott Pakistan in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, which will be held in England and Wales.
Earlier, Laxman had predicted that India and England were favourites to win the upcoming quadrennial event.
“It’s all about peaking at the right time which is so important. The World Cup is a long format so every player should be at his best physically and mentally if India has to win the World Cup. They start as favourites. For me, India and England start as favourites,” Laxman told reporters on the sidelines of Bengal’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament preparations.
