India’s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma was Men-in-Blue’s highest run scorer as the visiting team thrashed New Zealand by seven wickets to level the ongoing three-match T20I series 1-1. The second T20I match between India and New Zealand is being played at Eden Park, Auckland.
On Friday, Rohit Sharma smashed fifty runs before Ish Sodhi got better of him, and became the highest run-getter in the shortest format of the game. The 31-year-old stylish Mumbai batsman has scored 2288 runs in 92 T20I with the help of 16 fifties and four hundreds. With 16 fifties and four hundreds to his name in the shortest format of the game, Rohit Sharma now also holds the record for most number of fifty-plus scores in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma, who was at number three position before the start of the second T20I, needed just 35 runs to go past New Zealand’s Martin Guptill (2272 runs), who has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series due to injury. Rohit also went past Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik, who is now at third position with 2263 runs under his belt.

The fourth spot in the list is reserved by Indian skipper Virat Kohli (2167 runs), who has been rested from the ongoing T20I series. Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum (2140 runs) is on the fifth place.
