The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, 2nd January, announced 13-member squad for the four and last Test match of ongoing four-match Test series against Australia. The final match of the ongoing Test series will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Virat Kohli-led team India have already retained the Gavaskar-Border trophy with their win over Australia in Melbourne in the 3rd Test match. If Team India wins the fourth Test match, they would become the first ever Indian side to do so in last seven decades.

Spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin is not fully fit and the call on his inclusion would be taken before the Test. Surprisingly, Ishant Sharma has also been included from BCCI’s 13-member squad for the fourth Test.

On Wednesday morning, BCCI took to Twitter to name the 13-man squad for SCG Test and wrote: “India name 13-man squad for SCG Test: Virat Kohli (C), A Rahane (VC), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, C Pujara, H Vihari, R Pant, R Jadeja, K Yadav, R Ashwin, M Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav

A decision on R Ashwin’s availability will be taken on the morning of the Test #AUSvIND”

Interestingly, Ashwin was the only Indian cricketer who was spotted training on Tuesday as the other members of the team decided to take a day off to welcome the New Year.
