Team India were in the middle of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against South Africa when the COVID-19 unleashed its ugly head in India. BCCI followed the footsteps of all the other sports governing bodies across the globe and called the series off.

Meanwhile, the biggest decision came on March 13 when the BCCI decided to postpone the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from March 29 to April 15.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to suspend IPL 2020 till 15th April 2020, as a precautionary measure against the ongoing Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in an official statement.

In the nine days that have passed since March 13, a lot of speculations have gone around the fate of IPL 2020. While some reports suggested that the Sourav Ganguly-led organisation is mulling a curtailed-but-televised IPL, some reports said the cash-rich tournament could be rescheduled further and staged in the months of September and July this year.

However, a recent ANI report suggested that the BCCI will have worlds with all the stakeholders over a conference call on Tuesday next week to find a solution to the ongoing crisis.
