Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is convinced that Pakistan fans won’t boo Australia’s Steven Smith and David Warner during their World Cup clash in Taunton.

It is being speculated that Pakistani fans, who are there in large numbers in England to support their team, might follow the trend set by Indian fans by booing Steven Smith when he was batting at the Oval on Sunday.

“I don’t think Pakistani people will do that,” he said while addressing the press conference on Tuesday. The question posed to him was whether he will react similarly to how Virat Kohli did against Australia on Sunday

“Pakistani people love cricket, they love to support and they love the players”, he added.

Notably, a good number of Indian fans chanted “cheater” while Smith was playing, making an International comeback after being banned for one year post the Sandpaper Gate incident.

India skipper Virat Kohli signalled in an attempt to calm the fans and later apologized to Smith on their behalf.

Sarfaraz also went on to deny that his team’s defeat to Aussies earlier this year will have any kind of bearing in the result of the match.

“I think that thing is gone, it’s past. We’re not thinking about that. Actually, we are thinking about tomorrow’s game. So our morale is very high and we will do our best,” said Sarfaraz at this pre-match press conference.

The 1992 World Cup winners have looked good in patches and seem unpredictable in this World Cup. However, on their day, an in-form Pakistan can blow away any opposition.
