Juventus defender Dani Alves has clarified that he does not seek money, rather he loves the game of football, despite seemingly confirming a move to English Premier League side Manchester City on his Instagram account.

Alves posted a black-and-white picture with a lengthy caption in which he thanked the Bianconeri faithful for the year he spent in Turin, appreciating the Juventus management and his colleagues for making him feel welcome.

The 34-year-old went on and apologised to the Juventus fans, adding that his intention was never to hurt but he is a person who lives life spontaneously and it is difficult for others to understand.

Alves ended the caption with a “Yo AMO EL FÚTBOL y dinero jamás va me retener en algún lugar” which when translated means “I love football and money is never going to keep me somewhere.”

Joining Juventus on a free transfer in 2016 after spending eight glittering seasons with Barcelona, Alves won the Coppa Italia and the Serie A in his sole season with the Bianconeri, but his best was reserved for Europe, where the Italians finished runners-up to Real Madrid.

The allure of working with former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola at City was probably too much to resist and while Alves is no spring chicken, he is still considered one of the best right-backs in the world and it is a major coup for the blue half of Manchester.
