The BCCI has announced India’s squad for the series against Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya is all set to lead Team India in T20i while Rohit Sharma will return to the One-Day Internationals.
While there is talk about Rohit’s return and Hardik taking over the T20i captaincy, much of the discussion is also about Shikhar Dhawan being dropped from the ODI team.

Notably, there was no mention of Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Reportedly, the BCCI is yet to take a call on Bumrah and Jadeja, as they don’t want to take any risk of bringing them back to international cricket.
According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, on Bumrah, the BCCI officials are of the opinion that “they want to simulate training for him that replicates the workload of a proper match, and see how he holds up before he is brought back to international cricket”.
The report further added the committee’s remark on Jadeja, “The selectors now want to see him in match simulation just to be sure of his match fitness.” Also, Rishabh Pant was not included in the ODI and T20i squad that was announced on Friday.
Reportedly, he has been sent to NCA for strength and conditioning training ahead of the 4-match Test series against Australia. “The team management feels he will have a key role to play in the Tests, and needs this housekeeping break after playing 44 internationals this year,” the report added.
