Former India cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli expressed their gratitude to their hero and coach Ramakant Achrekar.
Achrekar — a first-class cricket player — played a huge role in moulding the careers of the duo, especially Tendulkar’s.
On the occasion of Guru Purnima, Tendulkar took to Twitter to post a picture with his late master Achrekar. Notably, Achrekar died at the age of 87 in January this year.
“Guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance in the student. Thank you Achrekar Sir for being that Guru & guide to me and making me what I am today,” read Tendulkar’s post.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer Vinod Kambli also wished Achrekar for making the middle-order batsman a good human in addition to a good cricketer.
“You didn’t just make me a good cricketer but more importantly you taught me to be a good human!
I miss you Achrekar Sir.
You will always be with me through your teachings!
Happy Guru Purnima!” tweeted Kambli.
