Mary Kom raises “doubts” over BFI’s training after Indian boxers’ flop show in Paris
The 41-year-old also expressed her desire to have a meeting with the national federation and sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya to understand what was lacking.
“As long as I am training hard and my body is fit, I can beat anyone, bring it on,” Mary Kom said.
After winning her fifth Asian Championships gold medal on Wednesday, India’s star woman boxer MC Mary Kom credited her ‘fitness level’ for the success.
“As long as I am training hard and my body is fit, I can beat anyone, bring it on. If I maintain the fitness level, nobody can touch me,” Mary Kom said in a press conference on Thursday.
The 35-year-old Manipuri pugilist defeated North Korea’s Kim Hyang-Mi 5-0 to clinch the gold medal in 48 kg category at Ho Chi Minh.

Mary Kom returned to the 48 kg category after a gap of five years. Earlier, she was vying in the 51 kg category that was made an Olympic category in 2010.
The five-time world champion boxer is optimistic that 48 kg will also be a category soon in Olympic Games.
“It would be great if 48 kg becomes an Olympic category. It really works very well for me,” she added.
Following the success in Asia, Mary Kom has set her sights on Commonwealth Games, to be held in Gold Coast next year.
“Let me get through that and will take a call after that. I always enjoy myself. I don’t stress, it is pointless. This helps me in performing well,” the boxer explained.
