The packed Lusail Stadium in Qatar witnessed one of the greatest FIFA World Cup final matches on Sunday night where Messi wowed the world on behalf of Argentina to clinch the title from France in the penalty shootout.

This has helped the living legend Messi translate into reality what he dreamt of. He gave a hint of no immediate retirement and instead, wanted to keep playing for his nation in Blue and White stripes.

Notably, in the nail-biting finale that moved to the penalty shootout, Argentina snatched the victory by 4-2. Previously, both the teams scored 3-3 goals, with Messi scoring 2 of them for Argentina, while Mbappe striking a hat trick for his team to give this match a thriller ending.

At the end, it was all over to the penalties where, Argentina completely outplayed the defending champions as they scored all the 4 penalties while France could just  score 2. Who else deserved this award more than Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, who single handedly kept France in the game in the thriller World Cup Final. With a total of 8 goals he was the highest goal scorer in the tournament. He even surpassed the legendary Lionel Messi, who stayed at second position in the golden boot race. In the final itself, he smashed a hat trick and increased everyone’s heartbeat.

GOLDEN GLOVE AWARD

Argentina’s 6 feet 4 giant goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez, deserved this award more than anyone else in this tournament. Nobody can deny his role behind the victory of Argentina. He blocked 2 of the shoots in the penalty shootout. Also in the Quarter Final against the Netherlands, he was exceptional as he led the team to victory in the penalty shootout by defending a couple of goals.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 PRIZE MONEY

Argentina, the World Champions won a whooping prize money of 42 million dollars. The runners up France received 30 Million dollars. The Croatia who were in 3rd position won a prize money of 27 million dollars.
