Even at 1-0 down we believed we could do it: Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany

Raheem Sterling not only won an early second half penalty that was converted by Sergio Aguero, but also went on to score his 12th goal of the season that helped Manchester City beat Huddersfield Town 2-1.

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany hailed Manchester City’s strength of character, saying the win at the John Smith’s Stadium was one of the most important of the campaign to date.

“Today was what epitomizes the Premier League,” said Kompany, according to www.mancity.com.

“They defended well, they were strong up-front and they had a game plan with three defensive midfielders but the team deserved the win because we kept at it. Even at 1-0 down we still believed we could do it,” Kompany said, adding, “But this one is even bigger because we were 1-0 down and we ran out of options at points. We were creating chances, we were dangerous and then they went 1-0 up and all of a sudden it becomes a different game.”

Speaking about the hard-fought win, Sterling said, “We went in at half-time disappointed – we were on the front foot and conceded late on. In the dressing room, we talked about getting something out of the game.”
