The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has decided on Tuesday that it will rename the popular Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi as Arun Jaitley Stadium. The same will be in done in memory of former President of DDCA, Arun Jaitley, who breathed his last on Saturday.
The renaming of the stadium is set to take place on 12 September in the same event in which one of the stands of the stadium will be named after Indian captain and Delhi lad Virat Kohli.
The news was confirmed by DDCA President Rajat Sharma who said, “It was Arun Jaitley’s support and encouragement that players like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Rishabh Pant and many others could make India proud,” as quoted by PTI.

During his stint as the President of DDCA, Jaitley is credited with renovating the stadium and transforming it into a world-class home of cricket in Delhi. Jaitley was behind increasing the capacity of the stadium to accommodate more fans and also headed the project which brought in top-class dressing rooms in the stadium.
The function is scheduled to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and expects the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju among others.
