BAC: Sindhu, Prannoy, Doubles pair ousted, India’s campaign ends
This was Sindhu’s first loss against the Chinese shuttler in six meetings.
Prannoy was not able to win any medal for India.
Badminton legend Lee Chong Wei on Saturday defeated Indian shuttler HS Prannoy in the semifinal 21-16 9-21 21-14 and prevented an all-Indian men’s singles clash in the Badminton final at the Commonwealth Games 2018.
Had Prannoy defeated Chong Wei, it would have been an all-Indian men’s singles clash as it happened in the women’s category. However, that didn’t happen and Wei went on to defeat World No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth to clinch the gold.

Just a day after his defeat, Prannoy took to Twitter, saying: “My first Commonwealth Games came to an end last night!! Heart breaking for me personally as I had a big chance for a medal but was simply not good enough last night against both LCW and Rajiv!!”.
“Once again I choked when it mattered and hope I can come back on a better note ASAP! Apologies to all the fans who were expecting me to return back with a medal, I guarantee you all there is something bigger in stock for me. Thanks for all the support!!! Cheers,” Prannoy wrote in a note he shared on Twitter.
Though Prannoy was not able to win any medal for India, Indian shuttler did exceptionally well in the Commonwealth Games with six medals (two gold, two silver and two bronze).
