The cricket fraternity on Wednesday celebrated the National Girl Child Day in style by posting photographs of their daughters on social networking sites.

The cricket legend of India Sachin Tendulkar also posted a video message on social networking site and captioned it as ” Daughters are special! Appreciate them, admire them and respect them. Let them chase their dreams. #NationalGirlChildDay”

The former explosive Indian opener Virender Sehwag who is known for his unique batting style on the ground and witty sense of humour of the ground also celebrated National girl child day and Tweeted, ” It’s time to eradicate discrimination and spread equality. Celebrate the girl child. Beti Bachao, Jeevan Sajaao ! #NationalGirlChildDay”

The National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year on 24 January as a national observance day to offer support and new opportunities to the girls in the country.

It is celebrated to increase the awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society.
