Liverpool inched Red Bull Salzburg 4-3 in their 2019-20 Champions League tie at Anfield.

Sadio Mane drew the first blood for the hosts in the 9th minute. Within a quarter past the goal, Andrew Robertson put another for Liverpool in the basket to make the lead 2-0.

In the 36th minute of the game, Reds’ star winger Mohamed Salah opened his account and the lead became 3-0. But within 3 minutes of the goal, Hwang Hee-chan scored the first one for the guests and the first half concluded with the scoreline of 3-1.

However, in the second half, Salzburg bounced back to make things tough for Liverpool. In the 56th minute, Takumi Minamino scored for the guests and within 4 minutes of the goal, Erling Braut Haland scored the equalizer.

The match which was going one way became a nail-biter in no time. But the Jurgen Klopp-led side showed their experience and class to bag the match in their favour, courtesy another goal from Salah in the 69th minute.

“We showed character,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was quoted by BBC Sport. “I was not surprised about that, which is why I was not overly concerned at 3-3 because I knew we would have chances again.”

Meanwhile, in another match, Barcelona edged Inter Milan 2-1 on two second-half goals by Luis Suarez to move into a tie on points for the lead in Group F.

Both Borussia Dortmund, who beat Slavia Prague 2-0 on Wednesday, and Barca are on four points after two matches, while Inter and the Czech club have a point each.

Talking about other matches, Chelsea beat Lille OSC 2-1, Zenit outplayed Benfica 3-1, Ajax thrashed Valencia 3-0 and Lyon beat RB Leipzig 2-0.
