Don’t write off champions: Nathan Lyon on Kohli’s recent batting slump
The Australian team must be hoping to take advantage of Virat Kohli’s prolonged batting slump when the two sides clash in the five-Test series for the Border-Gavaskar trophy
The BCCI accepted Kohli’s straight-forward views with open arms.
Soon after skipper Virat Kohli hitting out at Team India’s cramped schedule, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday promised to address the issue with “utmost seriousness”.
With an eye on the upcoming South Africa tour, Kohli opened up in the press conference explaining how the cramped schedule is hampering team’s preparation.

The Indian captain also asked for bouncy tracks in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, citing there’s hardly any time in the schedule to prepare for the upcoming tour.
“Unfortunately, we get only two days before we fly to South Africa after this series gets over. So we have no choice but try to be in a game situation and think of what’s coming ahead of us,” Kohli said.
Concluding a lengthy series across all formats against Sri Lanka on December 24, Kohli-led India will fly off to South Africa on December 27.
The BCCI accepted Kohli’s straight-forward views with open arms and the board’s acting president CK Khanna emphasised on having a broader view on the issue.
“Virat is the Indian captain and his view point on cricketing matters should be taken with utmost seriousness. We are proud how the team is performing but if players are feeling fatigued, we need to have a broader view on the issue,” Khanna said.
Asking the BCCI to take a call on the spacing of matches while scheduling home series, Khanna added: “I think we should analyse if it is a good option to have three back-to-back series with hardly any break for the players. It will be great if this can also be included in the agenda for the December 9, Special General Meeting.”
