The PM met Jonas Masetti and team after seeing their performance of the Ramayana in Sanskrit.
Peru were thrashed 0-5 in their last group match against Brazil, but they became a rejuvenated team after the humiliation. They edged past Uruguay with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win in the quarter-finals before ending Chile’s journey.
Peru dazed defending champions Chile 3-0 in the semifinals of the Copa America to face Brazil in the final which is scheduled to be held on Monday, according to the IST.
On Wednesday, Peru notched up a convincing win, thanks to goals from Edison Flores in the 21st minute, Yoshimar Yotun in the 38th minute, and Paolo Guerrero in the 91st minute and their reward will be a rematch against host team Brazil in the final.
Peru took the lead when Flores seized his chance inside the box and struck home. A goal by Yotun made it 2-0 and provided the Peruvians with an upper hand in the game. Veteran striker Guerrero then hit the third goal in the injury time to seal the game for Peru.

Though Chile had more than two-third possession on the ball, it were the Peruvians who converted their half-chances into goals.

The stunning victory stopped Chile’s golden generation from challenging for a third straight title, following their triumphs over Argentina in 2015 and 2016 finals.
Peru will face Brazil — who reached the final beating Argentina 2-0 on Wednesday (IST) — in the final in Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana stadium while Chile will play against Argentina for the third place in Sao Paulo on Sunday.
