Mexican wave leaves Germany absolutely shell shocked.
Hirving Lozana is the Mexican god after his sole strike downed World Cup holders Germany at the Luzhiniski stadium in the opening match of Group F.
Germant laid siege to a tiring Mexico’s penalty area in the last 20 minutes, but it came to nothing, despite substitute Julian Brandt’s strike clipping the post.
The game started on a blistering note, with both sides looking to create chances early. It was end-to-end stuff in the opening 30 minutes, but Mexico slowly took control. They starting creating chance after chance, but all in vain. They lacked the end product until Hernandez led the charge before feeding Lozano on the left, who was in acres of space. The PSV ace cut inside and fired a shot into the bottom left-hand. It was unexpected, but nothing less than what Mexico deserved. On 34 minutes, it was Germany 0-1 Mexico.

According to the reports, the celebration in Mexico City caused an earthquake, that’s how much it meant to them. The atmosphere inside the stadium was no different as fans went berserk.
The Germans probed after that, but it didn’t pay dividends. They put behind everything in the last 20 minutes, but Mexican defence held firm. They were not letting it go out of hand.
As referee blew the final whistle, Mexican fans and players alike couldn’t believe what had transpired, neither could the Germans.
A huge result for Mexico and a scoreline that will rock the World Cup. Hirving Lozano’s goal proved to be the difference but the entire performance from Mexico was superb. Germany couldn’t simply cope with their counter-attacks and didn’t really create enough to break through resilient defensive line.
A result simply for the ages. The beauty of World Cup continues.
