A relative of Ghosh has come forward and refuted all the allegations.
India’s table tennis player Soumyajit Ghosh, who has represented India at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, has been accused of raping an 18-year-old girl. Following the girl’s complaint against him, an FIR has been filed against the Arjuna Awardee at the Barasat women police station in West Bengal.
The18-year-old also claimed that she was in a relationship with Ghosh when she was 15-year-old, during which he raped her. She also revealed that he had promised to marry her but later refused.

“We were in a relationship since the last three years, during which he raped me. He also promised to marry me, but refused later,” the victim was quoted by ANI.

Meanwhile, a relative of Ghosh has come forward and refuted all the allegations on the athlete.
“This is a conspiracy to distract Ghosh ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games and extract money from him through blackmailing,” the relative said.
