The Muraka: World’s first underwater hotel opens in Maldives

World’s first underwater hotel has officially opened in the Maldives. It’s called ‘Muraka’, which means ‘coral’.
At Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, The Muraka is welcoming guests to dive into in an experience both above and below the surface of the Indian Ocean.

A Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, property, The Muraka claims to be a triumph of modern design and technology, “delivering a transformative journey suited to amaze the most sophisticated explorers across the globe”.

“The completion of THE MURAKA is a personal lifetime achievement,” said Ahmed Saleem, a director at Crown Company and chief architect and designer of the property. “After years in the making, my team and I are proud to officially present THE MURAKA residence and its accompanying Maldivian experience to worldly travelers who crave the extraordinary.”
Guests staying at The Muraka will have devoted butlers dedicated to hyper-personalisation. Available round the clock, these butlers will guide the guests through their unique Maldivian journey.
The hotel offers ocean-facing bathrooms and an underwater bedroom among other five-star facilities such as a private gym, bars and pools.

As far as tariffs are concerned, well they are expensive. The per night rates for November start from $734 and go up to $1,027 for a standard room.
The announcement came via the official social media channels of Visit Maldives, highlighting Katrina as the face of their campaign titled "The Sunny Side of Life".
