Rose is the flower that signifies beauty and love and can be grown into a variety of colours, fragrances and bloom shapes. From the 200 species of roses originally found, there are more than 30, 000 varieties available today.

To grow perfect roses, days should be bright sunny and nights should be cool, humidity should be moderate and there should be no strong winds. This pretty flower prefers a day temperature of 25 degrees to 30 degree Celsius. This climate favours growth and quality flower production. Therefore, the spring season is best to promote early flowering of the rose plant under protected conditions. However, they can be planted at any time of the year, February to March is the most suitable time for planting them.

Roses perform best if you plant them in early spring. A newly planted rose is going to be thirsty. The sooner in the season, you get roses in the ground, the less watering and attention they will need in the heat of summer. Roses require fertile loamy soil that should be having good moisture and holding capacity with proper drainage. Plenty of sunshine is required to produce the best quality of roses. It does not start well in continuous shade. If grown in shade, the occurrence of diseases and pests will be more.

Roses now range from simple red to breathtakingly gorgeous exhibition type flowers, with a spectrum of colours in which only the true black and blue are missing. Besides love, a rose is a symbol of passion, admiration, devotion and gratitude. Available in bright red, burgundy maroon, yellow, white, pink and many more shades, they have a special knack of expressing myriads of emotions that thousands of words cannot explain. You need to take proper care of them if you want to bask in the pleasant fragrance of roses in the coming season, summer. Of course, they need high maintenance because they are delicate and susceptible to diseases and pests.

Have a colourful and cheerful spring garden growing these awesome roses:

Hybrid Tea roses: Hybrid Tea roses are an impeccable form of roses having great fragrance and exceptional vigour. They are a must-grow for every cutting garden. This rose boasts the form that no other rose variety can touch. These blooms stand out beautifully on long and single stems with sparse green foliage around them. The beauty of this flower lies in their exquisitely formed, pointed bud flower. Hybrid teas have a broad colour palette, which includes many bright and vibrant shades. They are excellent for rose beds due to their short and upright habit of growth. They look awesome if grown particularly on borders along a fence or in front of a house.

Floribundas roses: By crossing Polyanthus with Hybrid Teas, a new class of roses was created called floribundas. These are large roses that will treat your eyes. These hybrids produce generous clusters of blooms all season. They are ideal to be grown on borders or in beds and will soon be the focal point in your garden. This variety is excellent for landscaping as they are shorter than Hybrid Teas and they produce profuse clusters of blooms from spring until the first frost. The wide range of hues will provide unlimited options for the garden. The small flowers look like elegant Hybrid Tea blooms but appear in clusters instead of one flower per stem offering a beautiful bouquet on every branch.

Grandiflora roses: Grandiflora roses were born as a result of a cross between Hybrid Tea rose and a Floribunda. These flowers are similar to Hybrid Teas in habit and size. They make excellent garden rose plants with their tall length and clustered blooms, rather than one-per-stem. The shades of colours go from soft pastels to deep purples and are complemented by the hints of the sweetest floral perfumes. These tall and hardy roses developed on long-stemmed clusters for exquisite sophistication in flower border landscaping or hedging.

Shrub roses: Shrub roses have long been loved for their beautiful looks and magical fragrance. There is so many shrub rose plant varieties in the nurseries and the more new varieties can be seen every year with almost every colour to choose from (except true blue and green). The deep green foliage of shrub roses creates a wonderful backdrop to numerous perennials and annuals, as well as formal rose blooms themselves. These roses are one of the easiest to grow.

Miniature roses: This variety has smaller flowers than standard rose bushes, but come in a variety of types and colours. Despite their small size, miniature roses are extremely hardy. There are many types of miniature roses, such as climbers, heavy feeders and since mini roses continue blooming all season, regular fertilising is essential. Mini roses look best if planted outdoors.
