Uno Chicago Bar & Grill is the next place to try if you are anywhere near the GIP complex in Noida. Situated at just the entrance of the Garden Galleria Mall in Sector 38, this uber-chic place is a blend of everything urbane and American.

A first of a kind venture that comes with the legacy of 75 years stronghold from the United States and wishes to establish itself in line with popular giants like McDonald’s, it still has a long way to go.

The house DJ plays pop chartbusters while a bar stands to the left and a smoking area to the right. The kitchen vibes are very local, almost van-services-sort and the seating changes as the décor moves into the further right of whatever space is available to the restaurant.

It’s always tricky to make the vegetarian options as delectable as their non-vegetarian counterparts, especially in places known for their contemporary world cuisine which very much most often includes meat.

But, settle down, dear vegetarian reader. We specifically explored the veg platter to see what was worthy in that space. For appetizers, there are multiple options. Nachos are universal and a safe option to start with as is Pull-Apart Garlic Bread dressed with Marinara sauce. The buttery, cheesy melting effect of the bread makes it one hell of a try.

If you wish to give yourself a bit of a lesser evil, the Spinach Artichoke Dip with bread is a must-try. The distinct cheesy flavour of the dip will remind many of yak cheese or ‘chhurpi’ as it is popularly called in the northern parts of India and Nepal.

Pasta options are galore and the restaurant takes pride in a variety of them including the likes of Signature Rattlesnake Fettuccine Pasta, Chicken Spinocolli Pasta, and Prawn Scampi Pasta.

Mocktails and other drinks are available but the Piñacolada was perhaps the best thing on that menu.

A stand-out dish for us was the Mushroom Stroganoff. An eclectic blend of healthy with a bit of cheesy satisfies the taste buds of all, especially those who like things in moderation. Served with rice and broccoli, this delicacy is once in a while must eat.

As for the restaurant that takes deep pride in being the inventors of deep-dish pizzas, the pizza platter is a doable option. Speaking only from the perspective of the vegetarian pizzas that one tried; Barbeque and Farmers Market, both hit way below the mark. The authentic touch in whatever way the maker tried to bring only landed up making the staple not so suitable. One would rather reapply their appetite elsewhere.

If you are looking for something else, perhaps, the restaurant recommendations like Peri Peri Cottage Cheese Steak, Crusted Chicken Parmesan, and Grilled Lemon Basil Salmon could work for anyone willing to take that trail.

Dessert options are minimal but great. A Chocolate Truffle Cake served with a whipping of cream and vanilla ice-cream would treasure bitter-sweet memories of your experience if any. And, if one decided to do away with the dessert options, the coffee board is also available. And a cup-a-cappuccino before you step out will give a nice closure to the food adventure you began.
