YSRCP rebel MP K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju resigns as MP

Drawing a parallel between Mahmud of Ghazni and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRCP rebel MP K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju today tendered his resignation as an MP from Narsapuram.

Ever since he won the election in 2019 on YSRCP ticket, Raju has been critical of his party supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The ruling party in turn tried to disqualify him from the Parliament and harassed him with police interrogation.

In his resignation letter, Raju wrote: “Your multiple and steady efforts like Mohammad Gajni (Mahmud of Ghazni) to get me disqualified from my Parliamentary membership have not yielded till date the desired result.”

While accusing the Chief Minister of trying to eliminate him physically, he wrote: “As a mark of my strong conviction towards serving for public good, I hereby tender my resignation from the primary active membership of YSRCP and expect you to accept the same with a prompt reply or response at your earliest convenience.”

“As the time has come for all of us to face the public probity and mandate, it will free both of us from this unsavoury association once for all,” said Raju in his letter.

He claimed that he had been able to sufficiently develop his constituency despite the hostility of the ruling party.

The letter came hours before the first list of TDP-Jana Sena candidates were released. Raju is expected to contest on TDP-Jana Sena ticket this time. Till date four YSRCP MPs have quit the party.
