Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said that women are the ”silent voters” and they now feel like equal stakeholders in the democratic process.

Taking part in a panel discussion here on Friday evening, Chaturvedi said, “We blame political parties for not giving enough tickets to women, but is society willing to accept women leaders? Have women arrived in Indian society?

Every political party needs to step up because women are a huge vote bank, Chaturvedi said during the panel discussion on “Have women arrived in Indian Politics?”

Other panelists at the discussion included Alka Lamba of the Indian National Congress and Anila Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

During the discussion, Anila Singh said women should be given seats that are winnable.

The panel discussion was organised by the Lokniti-Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) in collaboration with the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).
