“If Amit Shah meant that Kerala should be made an example, it is fine. But that is not what Amit Shah said. We have heard about Sri Rama Sena in Karnataka, where they have carried out large-scale attacks in areas including Mangaluru. The Sangh Parivar carried out large-scale attacks on Christian churches,” CM Vijayan said

Amit Shah on Saturday at a  public meeting  at Puthur near Mangaluru  said: “There is Kerala near you. I don’t want to say much. If you want to keep Karnataka safe, only the BJP can do this.”

As regards to the LDF government’s allegation against  the Centre regarding fund allocation, K Surendran said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and state Finance Minister KN Balagopal are telling lies regarding GST arrears. Kerala is holding on only because of central assistance. K Surendran accused the opposition of covering the government’s lies  about GST arrears.

He said that Kerala is getting the highest revenue deficit grant. More than Rs 53,000 crore has been allocated to the state.

“If Kerala is not getting  the due amount then why is the government not asking the Centre in writing? Why do Kerala MPs not respond in Parliament? There is no point in blaming the Centre for the failure of the state,” he said.

In this connection Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said that GST compensation to some states is delayed due to non-availability of AG’s authenticated certificate, and that Kerala has not sent even a single such certificate since 2017-18.

The Minister said that post GST induction, Kerala has not sent AG’s certificate for GST compensation for 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21.

Surendran has accused the LDF government of pursuing wrong policies that force people to end their lives. He said that that suicides had been reported from Palakkad and Kottayam by people who had defaulted their loans and were facing the threat of confiscation of their properties by banks.
