The Vishwa Hindu Parishad ((VHP) here has warned that it will launch statewide protests if action was not taken against the students who had assaulted a fellow law student in ICFAI Business School (IBS).

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Police have booked nine staff members of Hyderabad for negligence of duty after a student was brutally assaulted in a hostel. Eight of the accused were arrested following the complaint and remanded.

A first-year law student was beaten, kicked, slapped by a group of senior students and was asked to chant “Allahu Akbar” and “Jai Mata di” and was filmed and video footage was then circulated. Following the incident the college has switched to online classes and police have been deployed.

The law student was assaulted for making a comment against Prophet Mohammed in a private conversation with a fellow student on Instagram. The fellow student had taken a screenshot of his message and uploaded it on social media which led to the assault, said the complainant. The accused students have been suspended by college.
