A special court has sentenced two convicts to life imprisonment and tw others to six years jail in the gang rape and murder of two Dalit sisters in Nighasan area last year.
Additional District Judge Rahul Singh had convicted all the four accused on August 11 last and pronounced the quantum of punishment on Monday.
According to the prosecution, the court sentenced Chhotu alias Sunil and Junaid, convicted of gang rape and murder, to life imprisonment besides a fine of Rs 15,000 each has also been imposed on both. Arif and Karimuddin have been sentenced to six years imprisonment each along with a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

The Poxo Act court found Chhotu alias Sunil, Junaid, Arif and Karimuddin guilty after hearing case in 10 months and 27 days in the case of rape and murder of two real sisters belonging to scheduled castes in Nighasan police station area.
During this process, testimony of 15 people including family members was taken, 24 documentary evidences were handed over, as well as 40 physical evidences presented.
The crime took place on September 14, 2022 in a village under Nighasan police station area. After rape and murder, the bodies of both the sisters were hanged from a tree in the garden.
The SIT was formed to investigate the incident. A total of six accused were sent to jail. Two of these accused were minors at the time of the incident.
Except Sunil alias Chhotu, all the other accused belonged to the neighboring village of the deceased. Within 14 days of registering the case on September 15, the police filed the charge sheet in the case on September 28.
