India continues to attract foreign investors who bet heavily on the country’s growing population, rising consumer market, and a young and dynamic labour force.
A series of roadshows, organized by a couple of delegations of state ministers, focussing the upcoming UP Global Summit in Lucknow, has received encouraging response. The global event is expected to help the state get Rs 10 lakh crore investment.
The Yogi Government’s first phase of roadshows, held recently abroad, for the Global Investors Summit in Lucknow in February next year, was highly successful.
Officials here said, during the roadshows in Canada, Mexico, London and Germany, a large number of foreign investors were impressed by the proposals of the delegation of Uttar Pradesh and expressed their desire to invest in the state.
Canada’s My Health Center, has even signed an MoU worth Rs 2,000 crore for setting up a Medical College, Super Specialty Hospital and Medical Device Unit in Kanpur. Most of the industry groups have given positive response as they received the proposals from the state government.
This was the first time, for the UP delegations, to have held such roadshows abroad. The delegations have yet to reach many investors. There are chances that the global event might help the state attrack investment of Rs 10 lakh crore.
The Road to Toronto delegation, led by Chief Secretary DS Mishra, met Dial Pabla and Kiran Mann of Braar’s, Canada’s largest ethnic food chain who evinced willingness to invest in the food processing sector of the state.
Brar’s delegation may visit the state in January. On the other hand, the Invest UP and the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), have signed an MoU for the promotion of UPGIS 2023.
The UP Government will send a high level delegation of the Canadian investors to the ICCC summit.
State Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, met the representatives of private equity, venture capital and pension funds in London where the delegation also urged them to invest in the state.
Similarly, the delegation interacted with the various investors and encouraged them to invest in UP. Amish Tripathi, Director at The Nehru Center, and the UP Community Association hosted the Team Yogi in London.
On the other hand, the delegation led by Deputy CM, Brajesh Pathak, and Fisheries Minister, Sanjay Nishad, met the representatives of several business leaders and associations in Mexico and apprised them of the conducive environment for investment in the state.
The ODOP products were presented to the members on the occasion. It is expected that a large number of investors here have agreed to set up their ventures in the state.
The investors are expected to send their representatives to Uttar Pradesh to explore the possibilities. The team also visited the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico. Nobel laureate, Dr Norman Borlaug, provided the technology of a special variety of wheat developed here to India in the 1960s.
Indian business leaders working for industry groups in Canada, were very excited about the upcoming UP Global Investors Summit in Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Amit Monga, Head M&A, the Constellation Software, expressed his happiness over the new technology and new talent.
He said that by finding new talent in the fields like artificial intelligence, bio-informatics and software, he can grow his business globally through the platform available in Uttar Pradesh.
Similarly, Vikram Khurana, chairperson of Canada’s leading incubator and accelerator firm TBDC, expressed happiness over the progress of Uttar Pradesh and agreed for business partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Canada.
He said that Uttar Pradesh has made a lot of progress in infrastructure, knowledge and emerging technology. “I wish that businessmen from Uttar Pradesh come to Canada and businessmen from Canada come to Uttar Pradesh to grow their business with the help of the ecosystem here. One of our delegations, will go to the Investors Summit and will meet the Chief Minister and seek possibilities for a better future”, he said
Meanwhile, the Team Yogi is holding road shows in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Korea, Belgium, Brazil and Australia. After Canada, Mexico, Germany and London, now different delegations will encourage investors to invest in UP through roadshows in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Korea, Belgium, Brazil and Australia.
The delegation led by Rakesh Sachan, Minister of MSME Department, will do roadshow and one to one business in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The same delegation is holding a roadshow in Dubai on Tuesday.
The delegation led by Satish Mahana, are scheduled to meet the investors for the summit this week in other cities across Canada. A delegation led by State Technical Education Minister, Ashish Patel, and Tourism Minister, Jaiveer Singh, is holding a roadshow in South Korea and in Japan on Wednesday.
The delegation headed by State Industrial Development Minister, Nand Gopal Gupta, PWD Minister, Jitin Prasad, is holding the road show and B2B meeting in Belgium on on Monday and Sweden on Wednesday.
Deputy CM, Brajesh Pathak, and Fisheries Minister, Sanjay Nishad, is holding discussions with investors Monday in Brazil and in Argentina on Wednesday. State Jal Shakti Minister, Swatantra Dev Singh, and Urban Development Minister, Arvind Kumar Sharma, is also holding roadshows in Australia Tuesday.
