The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature is scheduled commence on February 20. The second budget of the second term of the Yogi Adityanath Government is expected to be tabled in the state assembly during the week-long session.

The Yogi Adityanath cabinet on Monday night approved by circulation the proposal to convene the session of the Legislature from February 20, sources here on Tuesday said.

On the first day, Governor Anandiben Patel will address the customary joint session of the Legislature. Thereafter, the House will be adjourned after condolence motion due to the demise of Apna Dal MLA Rahul Prakash Kol.

On February 21 , state Finance Minister Suresh Khanna is likely present the budget proposals for the financial year 2023-24.

In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the government may present a budget of about Rs 7 lakh crore with focus on youth, farmers, women and infrastructure development.

The government will also include the issues of BJP’s Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra in the budget proposal.

However, the Opposition will get an opportunity to raise different issues during the session including controversy arising from Ramcharitmanas, demand for caste census and clarification from the government on rising inflation and unemployment.
