Vintage season continues in the city
City-based vehicle enthusiasts had another chance to touch base with automobile history at the Vintage and Classic Car and Bike Rally organised by the Automobile Association of Eastern India (AAEI) on Sunday.
From Jammu and Kashmir to Bihar, vintage cars from different states came together at the 51st Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally showing the Indian culture's Unity in Diversity.
A Chevrolet model with a number plate bearing Jammu and Kashmir 2624 was used in 1933 by the Britishers, said the owner, claiming that its each part is totally original. Nearby Chevrolet, there was a 1954 Dodge which was from Bihar and another car Willys was from Madhya Pradesh. Austin of England was another beauty which was from Delhi and the mechanic Mr Prem Kumar told this paper that he faced problems in getting the original parts.
"It was tough but for the rally we made it possible," said Mr Kumar.

The Rolls-Royce a Saurashtra special vehicle of the year 1928 had its own beauty. Whether it was Ford or Mercedes from different states, were only to show unity in diversity at The 51st Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally.
First time participants
This year, there were six vintage cars which participated for first time Starting from Rolls Royce with the horse power 7700 cc made in the year 1920 owned by Tariq Ibrahim joined the rally for the first time. Another Rolls Royce 40/50 BHP also was a new comer.
1933 Cadillac, 1934 Singer, 1938 Ford and Packard of the year 1939 were other cars which joined the rally
