Detailed research on giloy’s ability to keep liver healthy published in UK journal: Patanjali

The hepatoprotective ability of giloy to keep the liver healthy and other beneficial effects of the Ayurvedic herb known as ‘Tinospora Cordifolia’ have now been accepted by the United Kingdom, and a detailed research has been published by the Oxford University in this regard, Acharya Balkrishna of Patanjali said on Thursday.

According to the ‘Journal of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain’, giloy is beneficial in inhibition of lipid peroxidation, management of oxidative stress and other factors.

It is also found that T. Cordifolia can be used in the management of liver disorders and as a hepatoprotective supplement in the food industry, Balkrishna added.

The research, he said, has shown that bioprospecting of its alkaloids may lead to the development of new formulations against liver diseases.

The recognition is a testament to rich heritage of the traditional Indian medicine system, which has long been facing undue discrimination by the West.

Balkrishna said that efforts were made to suppress the ancient Indian system of Ayurveda but Patanjali has always worked to bring glory to Ayurveda.

“During the Corona period, an attempt was made to create a misconception about Giloy that excessive consumption of Giloy has adverse effects on the liver. But the scientists of Patanjali Research Institute did research on Giloy and presented it with evidence. Due to the efforts of Patanjali, today scientists all over the world are acknowledging the importance of Ayurveda,” he said.

Balkrishna further added that due to the efforts of Patanjali, today scientists all over the world are acknowledging the importance of Ayurveda.
