Three American tourists, who had lost their way in the jungle of Rajaji Tiger Reserve, were rescued in a joint operation by police and forest team in Dehradun on Sunday. The foreign tourists were going to Rishikesh and decided to take a tour of the forest area of the tiger reserve on Saturday evening. They parked their car near Dudhli and entered the jungle and lost their way in the darkness.

Local residents informed the police and forest department about the missing three foreign tourists on Saturday evening.  The forest team started the search operation but failed to locate the tourists. In the morning the forest team found the Americans near Fanduwala. The visitors were lucky that they returned unhurt from the jungle, as elephants are active in the area where the tourist stayed at night.

Ithan (39), Tobais John (42) and Mark Andrew (43) were rescued. The tourists told the rescue team that they are staying in Mussoorie and on Saturday they decided to visit Rishikesh. The visitors were passing through the Dudhi-Dehradun highway and decided to tour the jungle. They ventured into the forest area and due to low light lost the way.
