She has sent her resignation letter to the President Draupadi Murmu.
Dr Soundararajan who is the second Governor after formation of the state and the first woman governor, was the president of Tamil Nadu BJP before she replaced her predecessor ESL Narasimhan in Telangana.
Her five-year long tenure was marked by attrition between the Raj Bhavan and the state government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao.
